Evans cycles

Evans cycles are a renowned name in the United Kingdom. It was founded by Mr. F.W.Evans in 1921. Evans Cycles started its first business shop in Kennington, South East London. They started trading with cycles first and then graduated to manufacturing their own cycle frames and bikes. An irrefutable reputation to reckon with, giving customer’s quality product.

It was in the year 1925 that Evans Cycles was honoured a silver plaque for its quality product by the Cyclists Touring Club. This was given to them for the most efficiently designed cycles.

This company was taken over by Joseph Smith when Evan Cycles was dealing with cycles, toys etc. It was during the early seventies that Gary Smith the son of Joseph Smith converted this into a retail showroom which specialized in various kinds of cycles.

With the support from Mike Rice, Gary Smith brought all the F.W.Evans Cycles (UK) Ltd under one roof and launched the first Evans Cycles Mail Order catalogue. As the popularity of this store grew the need for expansion also grew and new stores were opened in different parts of West London. The customers today have a wide range of bikes to select from and this is sold under the brand name of Pinnacle which was launched about two years back.

Taking advantage of the government’s policy to save transport tax this company introduced for the first time the Ride2Work program in which the various companies could purchase bikes and the necessary accessories and get tax benefits of about 50%. This government’s green transport tax saving scheme has not only benefited the employers but has also benefited the employees as they are much more happy and healthy lot. Evans Cycles company that has joined hands with the governments green transport tax saving policy have found this a more convenient situation as there is a reduction in their yearly contribution to national insurance policies.

Today they have more and more shops coming up. They have started a direct sales business through e-commerce wherein Evans Cycles take orders through mail and phones. In the year 2006 Evans Cycles Website was in the top ten positions and a Hitwise Award for their success. This website was also given a ‘Web Icon’ by the Retail Week.

Evans Cycles has a site house which has two warehouses and a bike warehouse where all the bikes are assembled and built, a thorough inspection is done before they are dispatched to their customers. Evans Cycles have trained technicians who are dedicated and ensure that they and the company both reap the rich harvest for the time and energy put in to make it a most sought after brand name in cycles.

Evans Cycles have a wide range of cycles to choose from as they have cycles for those who are passionate about cycling be it for cross country to road racing cycles with a full suspension mountain bikes to simple folding bikes. Along with they also have a whole range of cycle accessories which include cycle parts to shoes and helmets.
