Birmingham Midshires

Birmingham Midshires is one of Britain’s commercial banks and a division of the Bank of Scotland plc (part of HBOS). Headquartered in Pendeford Business Park, Wolverhampton, England, it has 67 offices all over the UK. Birmingham Midshires came into being when 50 building societies such as Liverpool, Birmingham and Bridgewater Building Societies amalgamated. At that time, it was a building society under the name Birmingham Midshires Building Society, but over the past 150 years or more, it has evolved into a specialist lender of finance, financial services and products to customers. In 1999, it was acquired by UK’s largest home loan provider, the prestigious Halifax plc.

Today, Birmingham Midshires is recognized as the largest private employer in Wolverhampton and the No.9 largest bank worldwide. Since 2007, it has been a separate division of the Bank of Scotland plc, after the HBOS Group reorganized itself and since then business has boomed for this Company. In 2001, its total mortgage assets grew from £11 billion to £28 billion in 2004. The UK Council of Mortgage Lenders voted the Birmingham Midshires as Top Buy-to-Let lender from January to June 2005.

It continues to offer several specialist savings and Mortgage products through the Internet and call centres and through mortgage brokers. When Birmingham Midshires joined the Halifax Group in April 1999, it had a savings balance of £5.9 billion and mortgage assets worth £9.2 billion. Since then, its savings balance has doubled to £12 billion, while mortgage assets have more than tripled to reach the £32 billion mark.

Birmingham Midshires owes its success to its strategic vision, flexible and scalable technology and strong leadership—three solid reasons for it to move from success to success. No wonder it is today one of Britain’s fastest growing savings schemes providers with 400,000 loan accounts, 900,000 deposit accounts and 2050 employees. Its choice of technology has helped it become leaner than the prevailing competition, with speed as the first benefit to the market.

Its other drivers for success include its fast product development which is both on-demand and parameter based and reduced operational costs by 50%. This makes it a very cost-efficient money lender and heightens its credibility in the market.

Birmingham Midshires has the distinction of being awarded the Best Online and Best Direct Savings Account Provider award, presented by Your Money awards in 2007.

For financial investors, Birmingham Midshires has several financial products such as:

Savings: There are various savings schemes available here. Here, you can either open an Internet Savings account, or a Telephone Savings account or a Postal Savings account.

Mortgages: Here, all mortgage options will be put before you so that you can make the best choice.

The Company lays great emphasis on providing safety and privacy to its online customers. Birmingham Midshires is very concerned about its online customers and their safety and privacy when online. For their safety, the Company explains how phishing, Trojans and money mules can endanger the security of innocent and trusting customers visiting the Birmingham Midshires site.
