Ben Sherman

Ben Sherman is a five-decade old British clothing company, founded in 1963 by Arthur Bernard Sugarman (1925-1987), the son of a Jewish salesman. He moved to the US in 1946 and married the daughter of a Californian textile manufacturer and returned to Brighton to buy a concourse shirt factory. The brand name Ben Sherman was soon linked with famous musicians and singers, and it was the first company to manufacture Oxford button-down shirts, worn by mods (British Royal Air Force), skinheads and suedeheads.

Today, Ben Sherman is the fourth largest men’s casual wear brand in the United Kingdom. It also makes suits, shirts, shoes and other accessories for men, women and boys. Its designs often feature the colours and roundel of the British Royal Air Force. And, more recently, this range has stood out for its complex designs, known as its Carnaby range of fitted shirts. Its online store comprises a large section of its website which features all its clothing and accessories under the section titled Collections.

The Men’s section has a range of men’s wear suitable for the Autumn/Winter of 2007. The theme of this collection is My Manor and features a contrast in men’s wear between the clothes of British gentry and inner city wear. A thin lapel blazer, retro sports tops, city worker wear and slim leg trousers can be seen and bought here.

The My Manor theme continues in the Women’s section too with clothes for women being inspired by London’s East End, or the underworld. The clothes featured here are masculine silhouettes with deep necklines and city shirts in bold colours.

My Manor for boys is so designed for a “mini-mod look”. Boys can choose from seasonal Melton pea coats, 3-way blazers and bomber jackets, stripe knits, Western style prints and graffiti on T-shirts. They are available in bold colours such as sea blue, brick red, basil green, ink blue, etc.

Ben Sherman’s Accessories range continues with the My Manor theme and retails watches, bracelets, belts, wallets, eyewear, jewellery, bags, personal grooming for men and underwear. The collection of accessories here is distinctively British and combines with the main range collection of the AW07 brands.

As part of the company’s global expansion drive, an e-commerce site was considered a natural extension, hence this site. It is clearly a site that features clothes and accessories with attitude.

Today, Ben Sherman has evolved into a lifestyle brand and is the choice of all great British brands that shape the music world. To them, wearing Ben Sherman means wearing attitude and style.

To be in close touch with his customers, Ben Sherman announces competitions regularly and posts weekly newsletters to subscribers online that update them on the latest products, and provides brand news.

If customers want to find a Ben Sherman store conveniently located near them, they must email the company for details. And, now, Ben Sherman stores aren’t just in the UK. Those living in the USA, Australia, Japan, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Germany can also buy this exclusive, high fashion clothing.
